Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_06-ea-b13) If the installed version is 8u6, you will see a string that includes the text 1.8.0_06. You can determine which version of the JDK is the default by typing java -version in a Terminal window.
It is possible for the version of the JRE to be different than the version of the JDK. When launching a Java application through the command line, the system uses the default JDK. There can be multiple JDKs installed on a system, as many as you wish. See 'Note for Users of OS X that Include Apple Java 6 Plug-in'.
